Virginia Mae Brothers

Virginia Mae Brothers, 85, of Hamilton, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka.
She was born December 16, 1935 in Lebo, Kansas the daughter of Russell “Jack” and Ruth Givens Tatman. Virginia’s family later moved from Lebo to the Crotty Ranch near Gridley.
Virginia was joined in marriage to Earl Eugene Brothers Sr. on August 31, 1958. in El Dorado, Kansas where they later began their family. After the birth of their first child, Robin, her husband was drafted into military service. While Virginia was pregnant with their first son, Earl Jr., she moved back to the ranch to live with her parents until Earl Sr. returned from the service. Following his military obligation, Virginia and Earl moved back to El Dorado and continued to raise a family which would later include a daughter, Vicki and another son, Damon. In 1971 they moved their family to Burkett, northwest of Hamilton. They would later settle in their current home in Hamilton in 2002.
Shortly after moving into town Earl Sr. would precede her in death. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Robin Lynne Brothers; a brother, Bill Tatman; a sister, Donna Varvel and her parents, Jack and Ruth.
Virginia will live on in the hearts and memories of her daughter, Vicki Crane and her husband Jerry of Hamilton; sons, Damon Brothers and his wife Kim of Hamilton and Earl E. Brothers Jr. of Hamilton; a sister Viola Brecheisen of Quenemo, Kansas; three brothers, Keith Tatman of Lebo, Jim Tatman of Burlington and Carl Tatman of Valencia, California; seven grandsons and 3 great-granddaughters; numerous extended family and a host of dear friends.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Janesville Cemetery in Hamilton. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 4:30 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the VanArsdale Funeral Home in Madison. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hamilton City Library and sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
