JEAN RITA BLOOM
OSAGE CITY- Jean Rita Bloom, 90, of Osage City, died Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Vintage Park Assisted Living in Osage City.
Jean Rita Kiser was born January 6, 1927 in Hoisington, the daughter of Riner C. and Ebba L. (Nelson) Kiser. She graduated from Hoisington High School and attended Bethany College.
She married Orville E. Bloom on August 3, 1951 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lindsborg. Orville preceded her in death on April 6, 2005.
Jean was an elementary teacher for Osage City Grade School for eight years, then was a substitute teacher while she raised a family. She later worked for Hallmark Cards for fifteen years before retiring in 1992. After retirement she enjoyed traveling and family.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was active in the Women of the ELCA.
She will be forever remembered by her two daughters, Janelle Brockmeyer and her husband, Gary of Stilwell, and Sherri Barnes of Lenexa; a son, Kenneth Bloom and his wife, Rhonda of Pittsburg; seven grandchildren, Aaron (Hannah) Brockmeyer, Travis Brockmeyer, Garrett Brockmeyer, Matthew Barnes, Amy Barnes, Rachel (Drew) DeCagna and Jessica Bloom.
Jean was a loving mother and grandmother and she will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the staff of Vintage Park Assisted Living for their loving care and a special thanks to her neighbors and friends for helping her when she lived on the farm.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 3, 2017 at Grace Lutheran Church in Osage City. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Osage City. Visitation will be Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 7:30 pm with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, KS 66523. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
