Iona Lorraine Smiley, 91, of Osage City, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the Osage Nursing Center in Osage City.
Iona Lorraine Evarts was born on August 8, 1926 in Dodge City, Kansas, the daughter of Ross Ray and Lillie Arline (Bryan) Evarts. She graduated from McPherson High School.
Lorraine was joined in married to James Clifford Smiley on January 25, 1947 in Topeka.
She had worked for Kansas Neurological Institute for 27 years. Lorraine was a member of the Countryside Baptist Church in Osage City, TOPS, Jersey Creek Ladies Club and was very active in the church and community.
Lorraine will be forever remembered by her daughter, Connie (Randall) Bruno of Scranton, KS; a son, Dannie (Lee Ann) Smiley of Burlingame; a brother, Rollo (Dorothy) Evarts of Scranton, KS; five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Clifford Smiley; a son, Paul Mitchel Smiley; a daughter, Rose Marie Frankenfeld and three brothers, Ralph, Ellis and Norman Evarts.
Services will be held at 1:00 p..m., Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Countryside Baptist Church in Osage City. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6;00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Memorial contributions may be made to Countryside Baptist Church and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City 66523. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
