Gladys L. Williams, 91, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the Life Care Center in Burlington.
Gladys Lavern Sherman was born February 15, 1926 near Neal, Kansas, the daughter of Willis Ray and Dona Mae (Watts) Sherman. She attended school till the 8th grade.
She was joined in marriage to Cecil Ernest Williams on October 19, 1942 in Yates Center, Kansas. To this union, three children were born.
Gladys was a rancher and farmer and a member of the Eastern Star White Rose Chapter 297.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cecil Ernest Williams on October 1, 1999; a son, Glen Ronald “Ronnie” Williams in 2004; a sister, Irene Schlotterbeck and three brothers, Harry, Buss, Pat Sherman.
Gladys will be forever remembered by her two daughters, Dona “Mazie” Briggs and her husband, Dean, of Garden City and Janice Horton and her husband, Dallas, of Emporia; a daughter in law, Doris Williams of Madison; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Madison. Family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the VanArsdale Funeral Home in Madison. Burial to follow service at Janesville Cemetery in Hamilton. Memorial contributions may be made to Hand In Hand Hospice and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Home, P.O. Box 488, Madison, KS 66860. Condolences may be expressed at vanrsdalefs.com.
