Elizabeth Kay Smith, 32, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018 at her home in Neosho Rapids. She was born March 6, 1986 in Lawrence, Kansas. When Elizabeth was five years old she came to live with William and Julie Smith in Neosho Rapids. During Elizabeth’s fifth grade year, William and Julie were granted full adoption of Elizabeth into their family. Elizabeth attended Hartford High School and graduated as a member of the Class of 2004. She was also a member of the Neosho Rapids Memorial United Methodist Church. Elizabeth was an avid animal lover and found it hard to turn away a stray. When sharing with family and friends she often referred to her pets as her “Fur Babies” During her brief time with us, Elizabeth touched many peoples lives and will live on in the hearts of her parents, William L. and Julie Ann Lawson Smith of Neosho Rapids; sisters, Melissa Smith of Neosho Rapids and Jessica Smith of Topeka; a brother, David Connelly and his wife Lisa of Vassar; a niece, Ashlyn Connelly and nephews, Sean and Ryan Connelly and a dear friend, Tony Rhoads. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Agnes May and Joseph Lawson and her paternal grandparents Ernest and Virgie Smith. A memorial service is planned for 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Neosho Rapids Memorial United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Elizabeth’s family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church and sent in care of the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo.
